Supporting Holland Sports Club, Barton-under-Needwood
Holland Sports Club is the sporting heart of Barton-under-Needwood. Set off Efflinch Lane with extensive pitches, courts and a welcoming clubhouse, it provides facilities for football, rugby, cricket, tennis, netball and tug of war, as well as regular social events and community gatherings.
A new clubhouse for the next generation
The existing clubhouse and changing facilities, while much loved, are now at the end of their useful life. A planning application has been approved for a complete rebuilding of the changing facilities and clubhouse on the existing footprint. The proposed new building will provide:
- Modern changing facilities for home and away teams and officials
- A physio room and meeting space
- A larger café/bar and hospitality area to support club and community events
- A mezzanine housing a state-of-the-art gym for club members and the wider village
This is a transformational project for Barton-under-Needwood. The new clubhouse will secure the future of organised sport in the village for decades to come, providing inclusive spaces for players, supporters and local residents, and strengthening Holland Sports Club’s role as a genuine community hub.
Our role – ongoing sponsorship and local partnership
As a local business based in and around Barton-under-Needwood, we believe strongly in supporting the community facilities that make the village what it is. Holland Sports Club is central to that – not only as the home of local sport, but also as a place where families meet, children start their sporting journeys, and the wider community comes together for social events.
We sponsor and advertise at Holland Sports Club through annual sponsorships, contributing to the financial stability of the club and, in particular, supporting its current two-year fundraising programme to demolish and rebuild the existing sports complex. Our support forms just one part of a much wider community effort.

Burton & District Beekeepers Association Training Apiary
Burton & District Beekeepers Association is a registered charity and local member association of the British Beekeepers Association (BBKA), representing a broad range of beekeepers and running a dedicated training apiary near Burton upon Trent.
Staffordshire Cost Consultants Ltd were approached in a community capacity – with our director also a hobbyist / semi-commercial beekeeper and association member, to provide project budget management and material procurement support for the improvement of the charity’s training facility in Burton on Trent.
The project focused on creating more accessible, durable and educationally effective external spaces, including:
- New and improved hard standings and paths for safe access in all weathers.
- Defined beehive stations with suitable bases and layouts for training and inspections.
- Landscaping, planting and flower garden creation to support forage for bees and improve the visitor environment.
- Meadow maintenance and enhancement, balancing biodiversity, access and safety.
Our role was to establish and monitor a realistic project budget; advise on phasing and value for money; procure materials on a cost-effective basis; and help the charity maximise the impact of limited funds and volunteer labour. The result is a more accessible, resilient and attractive apiary and training facility that supports local beekeeping education and wider community engagement with pollinators.
This project illustrates how Staffordshire Cost Consultants can apply professional quantity surveying principles in a community and charitable context, particularly where:
- Budgets are tight and reliant on fundraising and volunteer effort.
- The client is a local charity with a strong educational and environmental mission, such as a BBKA member association.
- There is a need to balance technical improvement, accessibility and biodiversity with financial realism.
By combining our construction cost expertise with first-hand understanding of beekeeping and local association life, we were able to help Burton & District Beekeepers Association turn a modest budget into a meaningful, long-lasting upgrade to their training facility, supporting both the craft of beekeeping and wider public engagement with bees and pollinators in Burton on Trent.
